New Sidewalk Keeps Grizzlies Safe

Over winter break there has been some changes to the Monte Vista parking lot. In order to make it safer for students who walk home, a new sidewalk has been installed on the east side of the lot. Previously, there was a dirt planter and a curb, but now a sidewalk takes the place of the curb increasing student safety!

Grizzly Girls Triumph In Flag Football!

Monte Vista Girls - Flag Football Champions!!!!! at the PUSD Intramural Football Tournament on Saturday, November 21st. They went undefeated in the tournament and beat Olive Elementary in the Championship Game! Final Score 3-0!

Expanding Your Horizons

Monte Vista girls attended the Expanding Your Horizons conference for young women, on Saturday, November 14. Students were exposed to various STEM activities and career fields related to science, technology and engineering. Girls were able to get hands on experience launching rockets, checking heart rates, building small scale bridges, and exploring invasive species.

Grizzlies Honor Veterans

Monte Vista students honor veterans from every branch of the military. Flags were presented by the American Legion. Students invited family and friends to join in the celebration, where Grizzlies sang patriotic songs and handed out thank you letters to all veterans who attended.

6th Grade goes to Scicon!

Monte Vista sixth graders spent a week at Scicon. Scicon is a science and conversation camp located above Springville. 6th graders learn about nature and the natural environment where plants and animals live and grow.

Monte Vista's Harvest Festival is a Community Hit!

On Friday, October 23rd, Monte Vista Elementary held their annual Harvest Festival. Families and friends of the local community, joined together in activity booths, participated in drawings for prizes, and enjoyed food and snacks provided by PTO and Student Council.

Fourth Grade goes to Butterfield Stage History day!

On Friday, October 16th all fourth graders attended Butterfield Stage History Day. This event provides students with living history exhibits of the westward movement and pioneer era of California. Monte Vista fourth graders learned how to throw a tomahawk, tasted dutch oven cooking and tried their hand at horseshoes.
